Sheryl Crow Admits To "Cheating On" Her Musical Husband on New Album 'Threads'

September 5, 2019

The incomparable Sheryl Crow visited Kelly Ford In The Morning today to discuss her brand new collaboration album, 'Threads' which Sheryl has already said will be her last album. But that's not to say she's finished making music. Just the opposite, she's beginning to embrace the singles side of releasing music.

Sheryl told Kelly, "now, with people kind of cherry-picking songs and making their own playlists, I’m into the idea of putting out songs and not waiting for a whole artistic statement."

Looking at the tracklisting on 'Threads' you'll see a laundry list of familiar names; collaborations on her new album include Country superstars Chris Stapleton, Bonnie Raitt, Maren Morris, Vince Gill, Brandi Carlile, and Willie Nelson (just to name a few). Stevie Nicks, Kris Kristofferson, Mavis Staples, Lucius, St Vincent, Neil Young, Gary Clark Jr., and James Taylor are some of the non-Country musical heavyweights who also appear alongside Sheryl, offering a little something for everyone on this final collection.

Regarding all of her songwriting partners this time around, Sheryl admitted that she felt like she was "cheating on" her longtime writing partner and "musical husband" Jeff Trott.

Sheryl Crow
"I have always referred to Jeff Trott (a songwriter and producer) who I’ve written most of my big hits with as my musical husband," says Sheryl, "but I’ve been cheating with Chris Stapleton … IN MUSIC! He's my new musical husband. He’s a great person to write with. He’s a badass."

Sheryl also played a quick game of "Kelly’s Quick Six," answering questions like Subway or taxi? Yankees or Mets? Uptown or downtown? Museum of Sex or Natural History Museum?

And Kelly couldn’t help but show off her new cat Mr. Thumbs. Sheryl was shocked when she saw his pic … "those thumbs are HUGE!"

He ain’t called Mr. Thumbs for nothing.
