Kelly Ford Talks With Damon Whiteside, CEO of The Academy of Country Music About 'ACM Presents: Our Country' Special

April 3, 2020

Although coronavirus has postponed the ACM Awards, the show still goes on. Instead of the award show itself, artists will be performing from their homes. ACM Presents: Our Country, will air on CBS and CBS All-Access on Sunday, April 5 at 8PM ET.

The 55th annual Academy of Country Music Awards has been postponed until Wednesday, September 16. Keith Urban will remain as host for the ceremony.

Kelly Ford got to talk with Damon Whiteside, the CEO of The Academy of Country Music about the upcoming special.

Damon says, "you rarely get to see superstars of this level just sitting on their living room couch and performing with a guitar."

"In a matter of 48 hours we went from an idea to getting yes' from the artists."

Due to COVID-19 concerns, many events and shows have been canceled. Several people have lost their jobs during the pandemic as the industry has shut down. ACM Lifting Lives, the nonprofit arm of the academy, just launched a COVID-19 fund to support the Country music community.

ACM Presents: Our Country will also highlight favorite Academy of Country Music Awards moments from the past 55 years, all in the hopes of bringing the healing power of music to Country fans during a trying time. ACM Presents: Our Country will air on CBS and CBS All-Access on Sunday, April 5 at 8PM ET.
